HAZID

​

A HAZID study is a high-level, structures brainstorming session used early in a project's lifecycle to:

• Identify potential hazards

• Assess their possible impacts

• Recommend controls to reduce the severity or likelihood of harm occurring.

 

HAZID is particularly useful during conceptual or FEED phases of a project to ensure that significant hazards are considered from the outset.

HAZOP

A HAZOP study is a systematic, team-based techniques used to:

• Examine how deviations from the design intent could lead to hazards or operational issues.

• Propose controls/safeguards to reduce the severity or likelihood or harm occurring.

 

HAZOP reviews are typically performed at various stages in the project lifecycles from the FEED phase through to detailed design and operational phases. HAZOP may also be performed on an existing facility to identify hazards.
